Fools Wanted!
The Merrimakers' Clown Ministry, based at Aldersgate Church in Wilmington, DE, always welcomes new members. They are a Caring Clown Troupe, not the Circus Clown type of clown. Their purpose is to make a positive difference in the lives of persons who are in care facilities such as hospitals, retirement community assisted living, skilled nursing and Alzheimer units, in schools, homes for challenged persons, at fundraisers for worthy causes, etc.

Art Therapy Volunteer
Art Therapy Express is a mobile instructional art program that allows children, teenagers and adults with disabilities to create meaningful works of art. Community Disaster Education Volunteers
Help your local Red Cross communicate the importance of being prepared for emergencies to civic groups, church groups, companies and other organizations. Training is provided with the Be Red Cross Ready curriculum.Teach the three basic actions of Building a Kit, Making a Plan and Being Informed. Presentations can range from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the group’s time frame. Food Pantry Volunteer - St. Stephens, Wilmington
Volunteer in the busiest food pantry in the state of Delaware! Our pantry is open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to noon, and is staffed by 2-5 volunteers. We have over 35 volunteers that regularly work in the pantry, and most have been doing so for years. Volunteers help distribute emergency food to clients. They pack bags of groceries, receive food referrals over the phone, and give bags to clients. You can make a difference by volunteering just one morning a month from 9 AM to noon! We have many openings throughout the month. We are also looking for volunteer substitutes.

Volunteers are needed to sort new toy donations to make sure they are safe. Volunteers help with restocking and setting up the holiday workshop. They also have to be able to communicate the rules of the workshop to families. Volunteers can help families select toys and may assist with wrapping gifts if families choose to have their gifts wrapped. Holiday Workshop will run Dec. 1st – January 1st. We like volunteers to help with a 2-3 hour shift and to have them here, if possible, between the hours of 3 pm and 8 pm. Help the Food Bank with Thanksgiving Drives
The Delaware Food Bank is looking for volunteers to help collect turkeys at Buffalo Wild Wings in Bear on November 11th and 12th. Two-hour shifts are available. Also, volunteers are needed to help unload DART buses filled with nonperishable food on November 12th at the Newark Warehouse at 2:00 pm. Matter of Balance Instructor
A Matter of Balance is a proven program designed to help people manage concerns about falls and increase physical activity. Participation in this program has had a very positive impact on the quality of life of the attendees. The program is led by trained volunteers and is conducted in 8 two hour sessions. RSVP needs coaches to present this program at senior centers, retirement communities and other community centers. Coaches need good communication skills, enthusiasm, dependability and a willingness to lead small groups of adults. Coaches are asked to try to teach two series in a calendar year. RSVP will be holding a coach training series on October 12 & 19 9:30 AM – 2 PM in the Charles Debnam Building, 1901 N. Dupont Hwy. New Castle. Please call Debby at 255-9878 to register.
Tree Planter
Since 1992, thousands of volunteers have planted more than 35,000 trees and shrubs and 20,000 tree seeds on 70 acres of abandoned farm fields in New Castle Country’s 850-acre Middle Run Natural Area. This year, we have 1,000 trees to plant on each planting day!!!! Volunteers are asked to dress for the weather, wear long pants, gloves, and sturdy shoes, bring a shovel and a gallon milk jug of water for the first planted tree. There is no experience necessary – planting instructions and refreshments will be provided and, of course, have fun making a positive contribution to our local environment.

VISTAS Veteran Volunteers
VITAS Innovative Hospice Care wants to enlist your services to help veterans living at home and in nursing homes, assisted living communities and medical centers. They are looking for veterans of the armed services and others who want to honor and support our living heroes and their families by volunteering. VITAS wants you to help in a variety of ways including: visitation, listening and/or recording life stories of a veteran and helping to plan special celebration activities. Art Therapy Express needs volunteers to assist children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities at the Kaleidoscope Adapted Art Studio at The Art Studio located at the Absalom Jones Community Center. The next summer art camps will be held on August 2nd - 6th from 1pm to 3:30pm and August 16th - 20th from 1pm to 3:30pm. You may volunteer for as many or few days as you are able. NO experience required-just a desire to learn and a warm heart. Art projects include painting, printmaking, sculpture, drama, creative movement, music, and more.
