Retired Scientists to Partner with Teachers to Enhance Science Education
Categories: New Castle County
Type: Unpaid
A 7-month pilot study is underway to see if retired Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) professionals can effectively work together with teachers to design classroom learning activities that will enhance science education. The initiative based in Philadelphia but involving at least one school in Delaware is sponsored by the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, a national nonprofit, and Temple University's Experience Corps (a volunteer program for 50+ adults). The STEM volunteers will receive an initial training and then meet with teachers in planning workshops to design experiential activities and classroom projects.
