Jean Williams has spent most of her professional life working in the non-profit arena. She began her career with the Chesapeake Bay Girl Scout Council where she was the Director of Field Services recruiting girls and adults. After a stint managing grants and overseeing training for a child care information and referral service, Jean became the executive director of the Newark Senior Center. Under Jean’s leadership, programs and participation doubled necessitating an addition that included a fitness center, an exercise room, three classrooms and a computer lab. Since leaving the Center in 2006, she has been a consultant and trainer for Temple University’s Intergenerational Center and delivering other workshops for senior center personnel. Jean serves on the committee for Coming of Age: Delaware. She has been active with the National Institute of Senior Centers, particularly in the area of accreditation. She is enjoying her encore career of training and consulting that has taken her back to her roots as an educator with her favorite audience, senior centers and non-profit organizations
Jean graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS Ed in elementary education. She taught for several years before leaving to raise her family.
